Most accommodation in Lofoten falls into two categories: converted fishermen's cabins (rorbuer) right on the water, or hotels in the larger towns. The rorbuer get all the attention, and the best ones earn it, but they vary wildly. A rorbu at one property is a weathered wooden cabin with a space heater and a view. At another it's a renovated suite with underfloor heating and a rain shower. Same word but a completely different experience.

The properties below are the ones worth booking. Each review covers what the rooms are actually like, what's within walking distance, and how the property fits into a wider Lofoten itinerary. Anything marked Insider Pick is a place worth choosing your base around, not just sleeping at because it had availability. But you need to book well in advance, especially for the peak summer season.
